Our People

David Hales - HQP

I’m David Hales and I possess over 25 years of hands-on experience in the private and social enterprise sectors, working with global corporations and small start-ups, where I have held a variety of growth roles in commercial marketing and general management.

Much of my career has been in commercial marketing, growing consumer brands such as Danepak, Princes, Airtours and Holts.  At Holts, a global consumer car care company, I succeeded in transforming the business’s profits and rejuvenated the fortunes of the brands and as Managing Director I was most proud of delivering great products with great teams that resulted in tangible customer satisfaction and secured the jobs of my colleagues.

In 2013 I made a conscious decision to transfer to the social impact arena and most recently I managed the Commercial Partnerships department within Age UK’s CIC.  At Age UK I built best in class supplier partnerships that provided trusted products and services to older clients, which allowed people to maintain their independence in their own homes.

I also partnered with 160 local Age UK charities to help deliver these products to needy people in their communities and so I am very aware the power of working with community based organisations.  I joined HQP in June 2020 and have been working with the Team to enable our care Members to achieve valuable efficiencies by partnering with our selected UK suppliers.

Outside work I help wrangle two teenagers and I am a member of a local running club and managed to recently complete the Manchester marathon.  Never again! I also try to find time to enjoy village cricket, English weather dependent.

Jo Hawkins - HQP

I’m Jo Hawkins and I joined HQP in April 2019.  I have spent my career, working with national charities enhancing service delivery and systems development to improve quality and consistency, increase responsiveness to greater demand whilst meeting local needs, and managing the integration of regional teams of staff and volunteers. This experience alongside extensive collaboration and strategic partnership development work within the third sector provide a useful background and understanding of the sector which enhances my work at HQP.

Much of my career has been in managing organisations undergoing sustained periods of growth and development which has allowed me to develop extensive experience in managing change, and innovation in operations and internal systems.   Since joining HQP I have been working to improve our systems and processes to establish the foundations that will prepare us for the next phase of our growth.

I enjoy spending time with my family and love getting out into the countryside on long walks with the reward of an occasional G&T at the end of the day.
